Rope Grips (Pair)
Monkee Grip Rope Grips
Orders come in pairs. Save $10 when you bundle Level 1 and Level 2.
Turn pull-ups, hangs, carries, cable exercises, dumbbell work, and kettlebell training into serious grip training.
Monkee Grips are portable rope grips designed to help you build stronger hands, forearms, and upper body control without needing access to a full climbing rope. Attach them to a pull-up bar, dumbbell, kettlebell, cable machine, or other secure anchor point using a simple girth hitch: wrap the grip around the bar, pass the rope handle through the loop, and pull tight.
Installed handle length: Once attached to a standard pull-up bar, each Monkee Grip typically hangs about 10 inches, depending on the size of the bar or attachment point. The total rope length is longer before setup, but some of that length is used when the grip wraps around the bar. This compact length is intentional: it gives your hand room to grip and reposition while keeping the rope short enough for pull-ups, hangs, carries, rows, cable exercises, and free-weight movements without excessive swinging or getting in the way.
They pack easily in a gym bag and can be used at home, in the gym, on the road, or anywhere you train.
Why Train With Monkee Grips?
Most gym equipment gives your hands a fixed, predictable handle. Rope is different. It moves, shifts, and forces your hands and forearms to work harder to stay locked in.
Monkee Grips let you add rope-grip training to movements you may already be doing, including:
- Pull-ups
- Dead hangs
- Farmer carries
- Rows
- Lat pulldowns
- Face pulls
- Lateral raises
- Triceps pushdowns
- Chest flys and rear delt flys
Instead of saving grip work for the end of your workout, Monkee Grips help you build grip strength during the exercises already in your routine.
Great For
Monkee Grips are used by athletes and fitness enthusiasts training for:
- General fitness and home gym training
- Functional strength training
- Brazilian jiu-jitsu, MMA, and grappling
- Obstacle course racing
- Ninja Warrior
- Wrestling
- Climbing-style grip strength
They are especially useful for anyone who wants stronger hands, stronger forearms, and a more challenging way to train common exercises.
<>Choosing the Right Version
Level 1 Jute Grips
The original Monkee Grip.
These are approximately 1.5 inches in diameter, a size chosen to balance difficulty, comfort, and versatility. The rope is thick enough to feel substantial in the hand, but not so oversized that it becomes awkward for pull-ups, hangs, carries, rows, cable exercises, or free-weight movements.
With rope training, bigger is not always better. A very large rope can limit hand position, reduce exercise versatility, and get in the way during cable or carry movements. Monkee Grips are designed to challenge your hands and forearms while still being practical enough to use across a full workout.
Jute provides a natural rope feel with strong texture and an excellent grip challenge.
Black Cotton Grips
A cleaner indoor option.
The black cotton grips are also around 1.5 inches in diameter, though they feel slightly thinner than the jute version. This makes them a little more challenging while still staying approachable for most users.
Like the original jute grips, this diameter was chosen intentionally. It provides a strong grip challenge without becoming so large that it interferes with cable machines, carries, rows, curls, pushdowns, or other movements where oversized handles can get cumbersome.
Black cotton produces virtually no shedding, making it a great choice for home gyms, indoor training spaces, commercial gyms, or customers who want a cleaner setup.
<>For Level 2, I’d make the contrast clearer:
<>Level 2 White Cotton Grips
The harder version.
Level 2 grips are approximately 1 inch in diameter and are significantly more difficult to hold than the original Level 1 grips.
With rope, a smaller diameter can actually make the grip harder because your hand has less surface area to rely on. Your fingers, hands, and forearms have to work harder to create friction and keep the rope from slipping.
Level 2 is best for experienced users, stronger athletes, or anyone who has already built a solid base with Level 1 and wants a more demanding grip challenge.
<>Level 1 & Level 2 Bundle
Save $10 when you bundle.
The Level 1 & Level 2 Bundle includes:
- 1 pair of original Level 1 grips
- 1 pair of more difficult Level 2 cotton grips
This is the best option if you want a complete progression system: start with Level 1, build strength, then challenge yourself with Level 2.
